Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to host Manchester City at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, in match week ten of the Premier League.
Wolves will not have defender Jody Craddock who has already been sidelined with a thigh injury for two matches. However, the good news is that skipper Karl Henry will be back after serving a three-match suspension after being red-carded in the Wanderers’ match against Wigan.
In another piece of news that could boost Wolves ahead of the game against Man City, Tevez will not start for Mancini’s squad as he is due to fly home to Argentina to visit his family. Balotelli is expected to stand in for Tevez, at Molineux.
Wolves have had just the solitary win this season, and are currently in 19th position on the league table, and only goal difference keeps them ahead of West Ham.
Manchester City are coming off a demoralising 3-0 loss to Arsenal and Wolves could face the brunt, as City would have a point or two to prove in Saturday’s game. But the defeat to the Gunners was greatly due to Mancini’s men being reduced to 10 men following the sending off of Boyata, who will consequently miss the Wolves game.
That will open the door to Jeon Lescott, who is himself keen to turn out against his former club at Molineux. Lescott and Kompany will man the back-line that hasn’t stood up to be counted in recent games.
Man City will hope to bank full points on Saturday, ahead of their Manchester derby at Old Trafford, next week.
Wolves will take heart from their showing against Man United at Old Trafford on Tuesday, when they netted twice in a close-fought league cup encounter that Sir Alex’s charges won 3-2.
Manager Mick McCarthy will welcome Kevin Doyle and Nenad Milijas back to the starting eleven and the duo could hold the key as wolves attempt to record only their second win to add to the victory against Stoke City in the opening match of the Wanderers’ Premiership campaign.
