The most famous cycling race in the world, the Tour de France is seen as the ultimate test in speed and stamina for cyclists. This year the Tour de France runs from Saturday the 3rd of July until Sunday the 25th of July. With only 2 rest days for the whole event that's 21 days of heart pumping action for the worlds cycling elite.


This year the Tour de France comprises of 21 stages and covers 3642 kilometres. Of the 21 stages 1 is a prologue, 9 are flat, 6 are mountain, 4 are classed as medium mountain stages whilst 1 is an individual time trial. From the start in Rotterdam to the finish at the Champs-Élysées in Paris it's sure to be yet another classic race. Almost every year the Tour de France turns up surprises, drama but most of all excellent cycle racing.


With the Tour de France being the best known cycle race in the world you can be sure of huge amounts of media interent in the event. The TV rights have been sold far and wide and many of those TV companies are choosing to broadcast live streams of the Tour de France over the internet. Namely France Televisions in France, RTL in Luxemburg, TV2 in Denmark and ARD-ZDF in Germany will be showing geolocalised live streams over the internet.
