Golf, the Open Championship - Live On The Internet

The 138th Open golf tournament takes place this weekend (16th - 19th July) at the Ailsa course at Turnberry. Comprising of a field of 156 top golfers this years tournament is seen as being one of the most open in many years. As always for the open the course they have chosen is difficult, the Ailsa course if rated quite correctly as one of the very best in the UK.

Turnberry will have a course par of 70 and stretches out over 7204 yards. As always the British weather will play its part, the tough course, sub par form of Tiger Woods and British weather will combine to surely provide us with one of the most exciting and unpredictable golf tournaments in many years. Not if you believe the major pundits though, Tiger Woods (even not being in the best driving form on what will be narrow fairways) is seen as a strong favourite. Not that the locals will be short of possible winners to support, Rory McIlory, Paul Casey and Ian Poulter are all in with a shot.
