Golf, the Open Championship - Live On The Internet
The 137th Open golf tournament takes place this weekend (17th - 20th July) at Royal Birkdale. Comprising of a field of 156 top golfers this years tournament is seen as being one of the most open in many years, mainly due to the injury of one certain Tiger Woods. As always for the open the course they have chosen is difficult, in fact Trevor Immelman ranks it as the hardest Open course he's played on.
Royal Birkdale will have a course par of 70 and stretches out over 7173 yards. This is 155 yards longer than when the course was last used for the Open in 1998 and further additions have been made to the bunkers and mounding to provide even more of a challenge. As always the British weather will play its part as well, the tough course, adbsence of Tiger Woods and British weather will combine to surely provide us with one of the most
exciting and unpredictable golf tournaments in many years.
