Manchester United vs Tottenham is not seen as one of the great grudge matches of English football, instead both teams are regarded as playing the game the right way and there is a healthy amount of respect between the 2 clubs. Of course Manchester United have come to dominate the English domestic scene for several decades now whilst Tottenham suffered from many poor seasons during the nineties and noughties. If there is any bad feeling between the clubs then it is likely because of some of the refereeing decisions that tend to crop up in these games, perhaps the most infamous of these being the "ball 2 yards over the line but not a goal" goal scored by Tottenham against United at Old Trafford several years ago.

The next meeting between Manchester United and Spurs on Saturday the 24th of April 2010 will go a long way to deciding who eventually lifts the Premier League crown. Man Utd currently sit 1 point behind Chelsea at the top of the table and can't really afford to drop any more points between now and the end of season. Tottenham on the other hand sit 4th and have a good chance of playing Champions League football next season. It also shouldn't be forgot that Spurs have helped Manchester United back in to the title race by beating not only Chelsea but also Arsenal in their last 2 Premier League games. A hat-trick for spurs in this game will actuall nullify the impact they've had on the title race although of course the last 2 games were at home whilst an away day to Old Trafford is a totally different ball game.

Being such a massive end of season game this one is definitely best watched in the pub washed down with a few beers.
